Blog #3: Responding to the lecture on CVD (due Thursday)
1. Is there a high incidence of CVD in your country? If yes, which of the risk factors mentioned in the lecture do you think are most responsible? If not, why not, in your opinion?
yes there is high incidence of CVD in my country and i think most common factors are smoking, a few people exercise to keep fit and the family history.
Saudi Arabia has a high incidence of CVD , and the major risk factor which leads to increase the incidence of CVD is diabetes. Research proves Saudi Arabia has a high percentage of diabetes. "The top 10 countries with higher prevalence of diabetes are Tokelau (37.5%), Federated States of Micronesia (35%),....., Saudi Arabia (23.9%)"(Health Intelligence,2013, para 6).
In my country, Vietnam, the incidence of CVD remains the high rate because of 2 reasons: beer/alcohol and smoking. The first thing comes up with this issue is about the amount of beer drunk in VN. According to huc.edu.vn, Vietnamese drunk over 3 billion liters of beer in 2013 (para.1). This is such a large amount just behind Japan and China in Asia. As a consequence, it leads to the higher rate of CVD. Another factor is about smoking habit. According to vov.vn, the number of those who die by smoking in Vietnam is over 40.000 people each year (para.1). Those people, of course, have the diseases such as lung cancer, tooth disease, and CVD, etc. Although the government and the authorities have been trying their best to reduce the rate of smoking, their efforts usually doesn't work. The rate of smoking has become higher and higher by days. Then, CVD is always avoidable and remains an extremely serious problem there.
The rate of CVD in gulf countries is very high. And that because less knowledge of eating habits and exercising. People in my country almost do not have clear view of eating habits. The obesity is really common and people who are obese do not try to solve the problem until they get to a bad situation that is hard to recovery again. Also, less exercising leads to raise the rate of incidence CVD. In my country, the average of athletic people is low compare it with the other who do not exercise. Because of all the factors, the rate of CVD is raising gradually.
The rate of CVD in Venezuela is high for some reasons: alcohol, smoking, and bad nutrition. According to Foro Univision, Venezuela is the country with the highest consume of alcoholic drinks in Latino America, (para 1). As a result, the risk of CDV disease increases. In addition, studies from "El Impulso", a newspaper in Venezuela, show that two smokers die every hour, concluding that smoking is the second cause of death in my country (para 2). Also, the scarcity of food is causing bad nutrition in venezuelans and as a result, people start to gain weight becoming an obese population. In short, Venezuela has many reasons why CVD is increasing with the years.
In my country,Thailand, has a high incidence of CVD. Smoking and drinking are reasons why we have a high incidence of CVD. Luckily that my country does not have problem about food because most of our tradition foods are made from vegetable. We do not eat a lot of meat. Moreover, we have many kind of fruits and fresh. Those food and fruits are healthy food. However, the government does not take care about CVD issue.
There is a high incidence of CVD in Venezuela. The range of cost of cigarettes is lower. On the other hand, fast food is cheap and people who work hard tend to eat fast food because they feel exhaust or don't have time to cook at home. This is not a good excuse but it's a reality. However, I consider alcohol a principal factor of CVD for two reasons. First, people over 18 years old are allowed to buy and drink alcohol, also, alcohol is cheaper than food. People can buy more than 6 packs of beers per day. This was a fact before I came to Houston, but it have turned around. Everything is expensive, so they are more likely to leave out these bad habits or additions. In a near future, Venezuelan may have a long period of life.
In my country, the incidence of CVD is high, and it also increase day by day. I think the risk factors are smoking and obese Smoking is a big problem in Vietnam. According to WHO, Vietnam is one of the countries which have highest rate of people who smoking. It is about 56,1% in men and 1,8% in women. WHO also estimates that about 40,000 Vietnamese people died because of diseases related to smoking, and by 2030, this number will increase to 70,000. Those numbers can show that how much Vietnamese people smoking and how smoking habit affect the people. Besides, the number of people who obese are higher these years. It becomes one of the healthy problem in Vietnam. There are lots of diseases were caused by obesity including CVD.
In ivory Coat, the risk of CVD is not much high, but the major factor of CVD there is that people smoke a lot. This is the factor that threatens people of getting CVD in Ivory coast.
In Burkina Faso the incidence of CVD is high because smoking and many people don’t exercise as well. Also diabetes is another factor of CVD. The rate of cholesterol is higher for many people who are more than 45 year old.
In my counhuge we have CVD risk for some reasons. First, I believe smoking is huge problem for this. There are lots of people smoke in my country. Specially there is a big CVD risk for men because in my country it is very rear to see women who smoke cigerette. Second reason is, people do not exercise. People live sedentary life style, and they do not think about their health untile they get sick. Most people start to exercise after they have got to CVD risk.
Cardiovasculaire diseases are in constant progress in Gabon which is surprising because about 25 years ago that phenomenon was almost nonexistent. Donatien Mavoungou,an author who has written on the question predicts that in 5 years, malaria will be pushed into the background in Gabon for the benefit of cardiovasculaire diseases in Gabon.According to him,it's time to raise the alarm. In Gabon, specialists agree that women are more affected by those diseases caused by smoking, cholesterol, high blood pressure, overweight.
In China, there is a high incidence of CVD. Smoking is the most responsible risk factor. In my country, a number of people start smoking when they were really young like 15 years old, and there is no limitation age to buy tobacco, that's one of the reason increase the incidence of CVD. On the other hand, most people don't do exercise and have bad eating habit, it's also a main risk factor in China.
Yes, there is a high incidence of CVD in my country DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo). Because of the smoking habit, the work pressure and the biggest reason of the CVD in my country is alcohol. People in my country drink a lot of alcohol.
CVD is very common problem in China as well. The high incidence of CVD formed in 1990. The lifestyle and eating habit are the majority factors. More and more fast food built up since those years. People likes to eat fast food because it is more accessible than other food. The expert said that the food contains High calories, fat, and sugar is more attractive than other food for not only the human being, but also the most of animals. It can cause the obesity problem.
In Saudi Arabia , i think that CVD is common but not in the highest rate . The major reason for it is obesity then smoking . As it is shown there , people do not exercise a lot or even move . And the other reason is the smoking as all of as know that
In COTE D' IVOIRE, CVD is quite persistent for few reasons. The first fact is smoking; many people in my country smoke so their are exposed to cvd, and the most surprising is to see teenager be exposed to that disease, as well. The second one is,because people in my country do not exercise at all.
