Metaphors and similes are called FIGURES OF SPEECH.
I gave you an example in class today about similes and metaphors.
Direct statement: This class is the worst class I have ever taken!
Simile: This class is like a nightmare that never ends!
Metaphor: This class is a nightmare that never ends!
Now it's your turn:
Write a simile or metaphor about each of the following: LIFE, LOVE, and MARRIAGE.
For example:
Marriage is like a 3-ring circus. There's the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering.
JUST A JOKE.
Another example:

These are neither metaphors nor similes. With metaphors and similes there must be a COMPARISON to something.
